Grid

Lay a designator group out on a regular grid. Position comes from each part's place in the numbered sequence, so the same settings always give the same board.

Board

EAGLE .brd or KiCad .kicad_pcb. It is written back in the same format.

What to move

Designator group

The prefix without its number. LED covers LED1–LED338, and will not catch LED_A1.

Rotation degrees CCW

Leave blank to keep each part's current rotation.

Grid shape

Components per line

How many fit in each row, or each column if you fill columns.

Fill order

Fill rows — LED1 to the right along the top row, then wrap to the next row down.

Fill columns — LED1 downwards along the first column, then wrap to the next column right.

Horizontal spacing mm

Vertical spacing mm

Origin X mm

Where the first component sits. Rows then run downwards from here.

Origin Y mm

Snake alternate lines Reverse every other line so a serial chain runs back and forth instead of flying across the board at the end of each line.

Labels

What happens to the silkscreen text on the parts you place.

Keep the labels off the finished board Hides the value and the fabrication-layer copy of the reference, then moves the reference itself onto the fabrication layer — KiCad's F.Fab/B.Fab, EAGLE's tDocu/bDocu. The designator stays readable while you work and never reaches the silkscreen. Text is hidden rather than deleted, so nothing is lost.
